Reaction from İsmail Küçükkaya to Fatih Portakal: 'It is not anyone's place'

Following the news of the detention decision, Fatih Portakal's remarks regarding Pehlivan sparked a major debate. While Portakal brought up Pehlivan's detention, his former colleague İsmail Küçükkaya reacted to these statements.

Serhan Asker, Seda Selek, and Barış Pehlivan were referred to the courthouse after being detained in connection with the disclosure of a phone conversation with an expert witness in Istanbul and the targeting of the expert by revealing their name.

Fatih Portakal announced Barış Pehlivan's detention in a statement on social media, and these words were harshly criticized by some segments. The strongest reaction to Portakal's words came from his former colleague İsmail Küçükkaya.

In his statement, Küçükkaya said, "I hope that the pulse beating here every morning serves as a message to some. Because I know Barış Pehlivan well, I know Seda Selek well. They are very good journalists. I used to participate in their programs. I have known Serhan Asker for years. He is a very good journalist and television broadcaster," stating that questioning their journalism is "not anyone's place."

Küçükkaya continued his statement by saying, "Questioning their journalism is not anyone's place. Questioning Barış Pehlivan's journalism is not anyone's place. He has also paid a price. These 3 journalist friends of mine are patriots. They love their country very much. They are committed to our Constitution."
