ROK targets Defne Samyeli for saying 'I am Turkish, not from Türkiye': Explosive response from the former presenter!
Pro-government commentator Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı targeted former presenter and actress Defne Samyeli after she stated, 'I am Turkish, not from Türkiye.' In her response to Kütahyalı, Samyeli asked, 'Good heavens, ROK… How can you tell such a lie about people? Why were you so triggered just because I said, "I am Turkish"?'
With the new opening process dubbed 'Terror-free Türkiye,' the debate over the term 'Türkiyeli' (from Türkiye) has flared up in politics and public opinion.
Former presenter and actress Defne Samyeli drew attention with her response to the question, 'Are you a White Turk?' during a program she recently attended.
Samyeli replied to this question by saying, "Am I a White Turk? I don't know. I'm not really into such classifications. But I am Turkish. I don't know about the 'white' part, but I am Turkish. I am not from Türkiye, I am Turkish. That's all I'll say."
Following Samyeli's "I am Turkish" statement, pro-government commentator Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, a supporter of the opening process, spoke about Samyeli.
Kütahyalı stated, "Defne Samyeli is originally from Malatya. It was known that her father and grandfather were of Alevi origin from Malatya. Years later, she denied this."
Defne Samyeli did not delay in responding to Kütahyalı's statement. In a post on her X account, Samyeli lashed out at Kütahyalı, saying, "You couldn't burn more than your own size even if you were fire," and added the following:
