Satisfaction survey released: How much of a raise will employers provide?

The 22,104 Turkish Lira minimum wage announced for 2025 has triggered various reactions in the business world.

While employees' incomes have partially increased with the raises given to civil servants and retirees, the approach of employers to this situation has drawn attention.

A survey conducted by the employment platform Elemannet has revealed employers' views on the minimum wage hike and the strategies they plan to implement.

SATISFACTION SURVEY CONDUCTED

According to the survey, 61 percent of employers stated that they found the 2025 minimum wage increase rate insufficient. Meanwhile, 39 percent indicated that they considered the raise sufficient. This result suggests that wage increases in the business world have not met expectations.

The number of employees working for the employers who participated in the survey varies:

64%: 1 to 10 minimum wage employees

34%: 10 to 30 employees

10%: 30 to 50 employees

12%: 100 or more employees

WHO PLANS TO GIVE HOW MUCH OF A RAISE?

To the question, "Will you give your employees a raise of more than 30 percent after the minimum wage hike?", 43 percent of employers answered "Yes."

However, 32 percent stated that they were not considering a raise at that rate, while 25 percent said they had not yet decided.

These data show that a significant portion of employees may receive a raise above the minimum wage, but this situation may vary depending on the economic conditions of the employers.

LOW EXPECTATION FOR MID-YEAR RAISE

When asked about the possibility of a mid-year raise, 67 percent of employers answered "No." Only 33 percent indicated that they viewed the possibility of a mid-year raise positively. This strengthens the expectation that there will be no new adjustments to the minimum wage throughout 2025.

The survey also revealed how employers plan to support their employees against inflation. A large portion of employers (56%) are not considering implementing any additional support. Apart from this, some employers stated that they plan the following practices:

28%: Bonus

12%: Kitchen/food support

5%: Rent assistance

The responses to the question, "What will be the feedback from employees after the minimum wage hike?" reveal employers' expectations regarding their staff:

50%: Employees will demand higher raises.

34%: Employees will maintain their current job status.

16%: Job turnover will increase.

The first payments made with the new minimum wage in the private sector are expected to be carried out in February.
