Scandal at official parade in Greece: Insults directed at Turkey! Investigation concluded

During the military parade held in Athens as part of Greece's March 25 Independence Day celebrations, Greek Naval Academy students chanted slogans against Turkey. These expressions were met with backlash from both those watching the ceremony and the international community.

INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED: PENALTIES ANNOUNCED

The disciplinary investigation launched by the Greek Ministry of Defense into the military students who chanted the slogans has been concluded.

Some of the identified sailors were given 20-day prison sentences. Other military students who were not directly involved in the incident but were determined to have joined in the chanting were given lighter disciplinary penalties.

In a statement from the Ministry of Defense, it was stated, "The disciplinary process was carried out meticulously to ensure that such an incident does not happen again."

STERN REACTION FROM ANKARA: "IRRESPONSIBILITY AND ARROGANCE"

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted sternly to the anti-Turkey slogans chanted during the official ceremony. Ministry sources stated, "This irresponsible behavior, which aims to damage Turkey-Greece relations, is unacceptable." In the statement, the expressions used were described as "arrogant," and an explanation was demanded from Athens.

REACTION ALSO CAME FROM THE GREEK OPPOSITION

It was not only Turkey that did not remain silent regarding the scandal; opposition parties in Greece also spoke out. The main opposition party, SYRIZA, described the slogans chanted during the ceremony as "provocative and shameful" in a statement regarding the incident.

SYRIZA demanded that the government launch a comprehensive investigation.
