Scandalous truth about that referee revealed! They made transactions worth 50 million TL

New details have emerged regarding the betting investigation that has caused widespread repercussions in Turkish football. An examination conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) into Kütahya region referee Nevzat Okat found a total transaction volume of 50 million TL in his account activity between 2021 and 2025.

The investigation determined that Okat conducted 1 million 643 thousand TL in transactions with domestic betting firms over 4 years. Additionally, usernames and password information for illegal betting sites were found in the notes section of his mobile phone.

50 MILLION TL IN ACTIVITY IN MASAK REPORT

According to the MASAK report shared by journalist Ali Fuat Duatepe, a total financial transaction volume of 50 million 267 thousand 645 TL was detected in Nevzat Okat's bank accounts during the 2021-2025 period.

The report noted that a total of 104 transactions were made with betting firms during this period, with 1 million 643 thousand 93 TL in money movement occurring. Within the scope of these transactions, 1 million 6 thousand 913 TL in outflows to the firms and 636 thousand 179 TL in inflows from the firms were documented.

It was learned that in his statement, Nevzat Okat said he had been a professional referee since February 2025, that he had not encountered any guidance or suggestions in the matches he officiated, and that he had memberships on two different betting sites and played games on these sites.

Another referee mentioned in the investigation, Erkan Arslan, was found to have a transaction volume of 35 million 179 thousand 61 TL in MASAK records between 2021 and 2025.

It was determined that Arslan made 6 thousand 380 transactions with betting firms, resulting in a money traffic of 10 million 548 thousand 837 TL. While 6 million 544 thousand TL was sent to the firms, 4 million 4 thousand TL in inflows from the firms were detected.

Furthermore, it was alleged that Arslan had banking activities inconsistent with his financial profile and that he placed bets on matches in violation of the Football Disciplinary Instructions.

In his statement, he declared that he was not a professional until October 4, 2025, that his previous matches were at the amateur level, and that these matches were not included in betting bulletins.

YAKUP YAPICI'S 8.5 MILLION TL ACCOUNT ACTIVITY

According to MASAK records for Yakup Yapıcı, another individual arrested as part of the betting investigation, a total financial transaction volume of 8 million 501 thousand 293 TL was found between 2021 and 2025.

As a result of 1,124 transactions Yapıcı made with betting firms, a total of 1 million 688 thousand 222 TL in financial movement occurred. In this context, 1 million 22 thousand TL in outflows to the firms occurred, while 666 thousand TL in inflows from the firms were recorded.

In his statement, Yapıcı admitted to illegal betting. He stated that he had been betting through a foreign-based site for about a year and that he served in amateur leagues between 2019 and 2023.

Authorities stated that if the examinations determine any action by referees or club officials aimed at influencing match results, the cancellation of past matches could be on the agenda.

In such a case, the cancellation of matches whose results were influenced and a new evaluation by the federation regarding the registration of the leagues could be possible. It was reported that according to Article 26, Clause 4 of the Football Competition Instructions, this situation could be reconsidered by the federation.

It was learned that the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) will act according to the court's decision once the investigation process is completed.
