In Eyüpsultan, Oğuz Murat Aci, who was standing next to his broken-down car on the night of March 1, died in a crash when 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur hit him, while four people with him were also injured. 

After the crash, Timur Cihantimur and his mother Eylem Tok fled to the U.S., and the incident caused a major public outcry.

ŞÜKRİYE ACI HAD WITHDRAWN HER COMPLAINT

After the crash, Aci’s wife Şükriye Aci withdrew her complaint with a petition she submitted to the court, citing the reason that “material and moral damages had been compensated.”

“BLOOD MONEY” CONTROVERSY DIVIDED THE FAMILY

Oğuz Murat Aci’s father, Özer Aci, reacted strongly to this decision by his daughter-in-law Şükriye Aci, saying, “She sold my son’s blood.” 

LAWYER EMPHASIZES “DOUBLE COMPENSATION”

In a statement responding to public criticism, Bülent Cihantimur’s lawyer said, “Approximately twice the compensation that Şükriye Aci and the other injured family members could claim was paid.” 

Earlier claims in the press that “100 million TL was paid” had been denied. However, according to a report by Akşam newspaper, it was alleged that under the agreement, Şükriye Aci was given two 2+1 apartments from Kadıköy Emlak Konutları, along with a cash payment of 20 million TL.
