22-year-old Merve Nur Yararlık, who was sitting at a cafe in front of a shopping mall in Diyarbakır, lost her life after being struck by a bullet from a gun fired by an unknown assailant. 21-year-old S.K. was also injured in the incident. ARMED ATTACK AFTER SOCIAL MEDIA POST
The incident occurred on March 8, International Women's Day, at a cafe located at the entrance of a shopping mall on the Şanlıurfa highway. According to the information obtained, 25-year-old attacker B.A. had argued with his friend S.K. over the phone during the day. Seeing the post made by S.K. from the cafe where they were in the evening, the attacker arrived at the scene by car and opened fire with a handgun.

The bullet struck Merve Nur Yararlık in the neck while she was sitting in the cafe, and S.K. was also injured. While the attacker fled after the incident, health and police teams were dispatched to the area upon reports from bystanders.

MERVE NUR YARARLIK LAID TO REST
During the check performed by health teams, it was determined that Merve Nur Yararlık had lost her life at the scene. One of the injured, S.K., was taken to the hospital by ambulance and placed under treatment.

Yararlık's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. The body, which was received by her family and relatives in the morning hours, was laid to rest in the Yeniköy Asri Cemetery amidst tears.

ATTACKER'S STATEMENT IS UNBELIEVABLE
Following the incident, police teams launched an operation to capture the fleeing attacker. B.A., who carried out the armed attack and has a prior criminal record, was captured in an operation conducted today. The detained attacker stated in his initial testimony that he had targeted S.K. and that he had shot Merve Nur Yararlık by mistake.
