Shocking allegations from a Grand Kartal Hotel employee! 'The inspectors who came to audit...'

In the fire that broke out in the early hours of January 21 at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, 78 citizens lost their lives.

While 12 people have been detained in connection with the disaster, the debate over 'responsibility' between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the CHP-run Bolu Municipality continues.

A staff member who has worked at the Grand Kartal Hotel for many years made highly controversial statements regarding the officials who came to inspect the hotel.

Speaking to Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü, the hotel employee stated the following:

“During the time I worked there, I never saw an official who came for an inspection pay for what they ate or drank. Aside from the Ministry of Tourism, people were constantly coming from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and various other ministries.

They usually came and went on a daily basis, but as far as I could see, whoever came would eat and drink before leaving. Some officials who wanted to ski while they were there would also not pay, instead giving the boss's name and saying they were his guests. I don't know if any real inspections were carried out in such an environment.”

On the other hand, the hotel employee also explained that students brought in from Bolu as reinforcements during busy periods like the semester break and weekends were employed without insurance, and that they would receive advance notice of inspections from the Ministry of Labor, leading to the students being hidden.
