Shocking detail in the Narin Güran murder: That person was also at the scene at the time of Narin's death...
In the second hearing of the Narin Güran murder case, which deeply shook Turkey, family members were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, while the confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison. It has now emerged where Nevzat Bahtiyar was at the time of Narin's death. Here are the details...
The second hearing in the Narin Güran case, which Turkey has been following closely, has concluded.
The court sentenced mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of murder by complicity.
However, the confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar was only sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for concealing evidence of a crime.
Former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Nahit Eren stated in his assessment on TELE1 that the sentences handed down did not satisfy the sense of justice.
Eren said, “The sentence given to Nevzat Bahtiyar is conscience-disturbing. It is unacceptable for a person who should have been sentenced for the intentional killing of a child to be tried only for the crime of concealing evidence.”
NEVZAT BAHTİYAR WAS AT THE SCENE...
Former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Eren stated that base station data in the case shows that Nevzat Bahtiyar was at the scene during the murder.
However, he noted that this data alone was not considered sufficient for a conviction. He pointed out that the investigation was complicated by the fact that DNA tests conducted after Narin Güran’s body was moved to the creek bed were inconclusive and that clear determinations regarding vehicle movement could not be made.
WHAT DO CAMERA RECORDS AND BASE STATION DATA SAY?
Examinations regarding the time of the murder revealed that the route of Salim Güran’s vehicle was consistent with base station data, and some camera records supported this information.
Nahit Eren stated that this data was important but insufficient, emphasizing that the reasoned decision would be approximately one thousand pages long and that SEGBİS records and hearing minutes would shed light on the process.
Former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Eren stated that if the file is upheld, Nevzat Bahtiyar could serve only 1 year in prison, expressing that the decision could damage public faith in justice.
