Social media backlash against Mehmet Ali Çelebi's post

While statements of support for terrorist leader Öcalan's call for freedom, made by Devlet Bahçeli during his group meeting, have been coming from within the AKP, one such statement of support also came from Mehmet Ali Çelebi.

In a post on his X account, Çelebi stated:

Atatürk: “What is essential is the internal front. What destroys a country from its foundation is the collapse of the internal front.”

Erdoğan: “In a country with a mission like Turkey, no event happens by chance.

No decision is made by coincidence.”

The People's Alliance, with the wise leader Mr. Devlet Bahçeli and our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the most senior leader in Europe and the world, will keep our state and nation in a safe harbor and will cause it to soar with the Century of Turkey.

We stand with them without hesitation!”

X users reminded Mehmet Ali Çelebi, a former officer in the Turkish Armed Forces who was tried in the Ergenekon case, of his past, with reactions such as “aren't you ashamed of your fellow soldiers” and “you are making the martyrs turn in their graves.”
