Striking claim from Ümit Özdağ regarding Northern Iraq: Our soldiers are being hit, the state is silent
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ has alleged that attacks against Turkish soldiers are taking place in Northern Iraq, but that the relevant authorities are not informing the public about the matter.
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ visited Kutlu Party Chairman Yusuf Halaçoğlu. Speaking to members of the press after the visit, Özdağ put forward a striking claim.
Claiming that terrorist attacks against the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) are taking place in Northern Iraq, Özdağ stated that the public is not being informed about this and used the following expressions:
“Attacks are being carried out against Turkish soldiers in Northern Iraq. We have wounded, but there is still no official statement. The state must share the information it possesses with its people. It would be naive to expect information regarding forest fires and sabotage from an administration that remains silent even about attacks on its own soldiers.”
Supporting Özdağ, Kutlu Party Chairman Yusuf Halaçoğlu also spoke about the 149-day solitary confinement sentence that caused a great stir in public opinion. Stating that this process is unacceptable, Halaçoğlu used the following expressions:
“Mr. Özdağ being kept in solitary confinement for 149 days is not a situation that can be accepted in a democratic country. But falling into cells, or even dying, cannot stop us from being devoted to our homeland and nation.”
