Former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu experienced both painful and tense moments last week. First, he visited a relative, a retired municipal police officer, who was receiving treatment at the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, and was then shaken by the news of the passing of his uncle, Halit Reis. His uncle, Halit Reis, was laid to rest in the family cemetery following the funeral prayer held at the Darboğaz Neighborhood Central Mosque in the Bafra district of Samsun. Soylu attended the funeral ceremony and accepted condolences.

TENSION AT STUTTGART AIRPORT

The most notable incident during Soylu's visit to Germany occurred on his return journey. According to Odatv columnist Hürrem Elmasçı, an unusual crisis erupted while passing through security at Stuttgart Airport. Two individuals working at the security checkpoint spoke to Süleyman Soylu in Turkish, saying, "Could you stop, please? I am going to search you." However, Soylu had already passed through the detector.

Despite this, Soylu stopped and allowed himself to be searched. However, the tension did not end there. A second officer approached, also speaking in Turkish, and said, "Take off your belt." Despite it being clear who Soylu was, he reacted to these persistent checks by saying, "Why am I taking off my belt? It is obvious who I am, and I have already been searched.", expressing his frustration.

However, the two officers continued to act in a provocative manner. Not wanting the incident to escalate further due to the presence of his wife, Hamdiye Soylu, the former minister took off his belt and threw it toward the back of the two officers. Hamdiye Soylu, attempting to smooth over the situation, laughed and joined her husband, saying, "Let this be our gift to you."

OFFICERS TURNED OUT TO BE TURKISH

In her column, Hürrem Elmasçı stated that the two security officers involved in the incident were of Turkish descent. She noted that after making phone calls following the tension at the airport, she learned the names of the two individuals but did not share them for security reasons.

"A PLANNED TENSION?"

In the remainder of her article, Elmasçı also raised striking possibilities regarding the incident. She suggested that the officers might have recognized Soylu and held a personal grudge, potentially taking advantage of the opportunity. As another possibility, she stated that a person or persons aware of Soylu's schedule might have wanted to anger him to create a perception in the public eye that he "attacked someone at the airport."

Another possibility is that state units in Germany might be behind the incident. Elmasçı remarked, "I couldn't help but wonder if such a plan had been made. If I wrote it down, it would make a 5-season TV series."

In any case, Elmasçı stated that the identities of the officers have been learned and that the background of the incident will emerge in the coming days.
