A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Abu Dhabi was struck by lightning immediately after taking off from Istanbul Airport.
The pilot of the aircraft reported that a decision to return was made and that there were no issues regarding the safety of the flight.
A Pegasus Airlines Airbus A321neo aircraft, registration TC-RFH, operating the Sabiha Gökçen - Çukurova flight, was also struck by lightning shortly after takeoff. Following this, the pilots decided to return to Sabiha Gökçen for the aircraft to be inspected.
Passengers were deplaned, and a new aircraft was allocated to accommodate them. The new flight is scheduled to depart at 23:40 with an A321neo aircraft, registration TC-RDY.
