Letters from the Ministry of Finance and Tax Office Directorates reported that no taxpayer records for Mahmut Yıldırım were found. Furthermore, a letter from the General Directorate of Criminal Records and Statistics states that Yıldırım has no criminal record, meaning he has no prior convictions.

Mahmut Yıldırım, who is wanted by Interpol with a red notice and an arrest warrant, is accused of killing 26 people between 1991 and 1996. Known for the executions he carried out on behalf of the state under the name JİTEM, Yıldırım is accused of kidnapping many people, killing them under torture, and dumping their bodies in sacks at various locations.

Those murdered include People's Labor Party (HEP) Diyarbakır Provincial Chair Vedat Aydın, HEP Muş provincial executive Harbi Arman, writer Musa Anter, Human Rights Association (İHD) executive Hasan Kaya, and lawyer Metin Can. Additionally, DEP Nizip Chair Mehmet Şen and Health Union Chair Necati Aydın are also among Yıldırım's victims. Beyond these, it was noted that with a list of 26 people, the number of individuals killed by Yıldırım is even higher.
