'The governor was also there' statement enters the file: New details in Oktay Kaynarca's testimony

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation for Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes, Oktay Kaynarca, Emel Müftüoğlu, Neda Şahin, Ali Sert, Rabia Karataş, and Selen Çetinkaya were detained.

During the investigation process, Emel Müftüoğlu and Oktay Kaynarca were released with a travel ban. Ali Sert and Rabia Karataş were arrested, while Neda Şahin and Selen Çetinkaya were released under judicial control conditions.

KAYNARCA'S JUDICIAL TESTIMONY REVEALED

The testimony given by Oktay Kaynarca, who was referred to the judge with a request for house arrest, has been made public. In his statement, Kaynarca provided information regarding the birthday party of Murat Gülibrahimoğlu, who has an outstanding arrest warrant against him as part of an Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality investigation.

According to the report by Halk TV, Kaynarca stated in his declaration to the judge that he attended the birthday celebration in question and that a governor was also present there.

Stating that the governor attended the celebration with his bodyguard, Kaynarca used the following words in his testimony:

“I was brought here solely because I know Murat Gülibrahimoğlu, whom the prosecutor asked me about. We are in a ridiculous situation; I answered the questions asked in a sincere manner. A friend of mine had a house in the same complex; I stopped by while going to my house, there was a show, that is all I know. However, I did not see any drugs or anything of that sort. A governor was also there on behalf of the state. This person had a bodyguard and a vehicle with flashing lights. The accusation leveled against us is very humiliating.”

“I WAS CHOSEN AS THE FACE OF KIZILAY”

Continuing his testimony, Kaynarca touched upon his public standing and social activities, and also explained the process regarding the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay). Kaynarca stated the following to the judge:

“I am the host of a record-breaking television program. It is impossible for me to have committed the alleged crime; it is shameful. I have filming schedules; we have no reason to flee anywhere, our work is clear. What is house arrest? Tomorrow, when my report comes back clean, what will I do in this situation?”

“The Kızılay institution chose me as its face this year. I accepted. They offered me a significant amount in return. I said I accept the film but we do not accept the money; I am donating that money to Kızılay. We are nationalist people.”
