The source of traffic fines: Is it possible to escape this device?
Traffic fines have caused an outcry among drivers ahead of the holiday. The AI-supported Trafidar system, which has been activated on the D-100 highway, has issued hundreds of thousands of liras in fines in a short time, drawing reactions from drivers.
The newly implemented Trafidar system in Turkey has increased fines for drivers exceeding the speed limit on the D-100 highway.
Implemented just before the holiday, this system resulted in a total of 526 thousand 645 TL in fines being issued to 224 vehicles in just five days.
Retirees, in particular, expressed their reactions to these fines arriving during the period they received their holiday bonuses, commenting that 'The state gives with one hand and takes with the other.'
Trafidar was developed by Radarsan, a subsidiary of SSTEK, which is affiliated with the Presidency of Defense Industries. The system combines radar data and high-resolution camera images with Native-AI technology, allowing it to automatically recognize vehicle license plates and perform measurements with a 0.5% margin of error even in challenging weather conditions.
The manufacturer states that Trafidar is an AI solution unlike any other in the world. The system is managed via a tablet that provides real-time data to operators.
In Turkey, it is being used with a modular structure for the first time. There are plans to expand such AI-based solutions across Turkey.
However, these technological innovations are sparking mixed reactions among the public. On social media, citizens facing economic difficulties are describing these fines as a 'policy of intimidation.'
One of the most notable comments was, 'We drove without accidents, but we couldn't pass without fines.'
