Thief targets home of Sultan Vahdettin's granddaughter: Guess who stole 11 million in jewelry?

A notable theft occurred at a luxury residential complex in the Poligon neighborhood on Sarıyer Street in Istanbul, where Mesuda Evliyazade, a granddaughter of the Ottoman Sultan Vahdettin, resides. The theft was discovered after Evliyazade filed a report with the police on March 15, 2025.

According to statements provided by Evliyazade, jewelry worth a total of 11 million 650 thousand liras, including precious pieces inherited from the Ottoman Dynasty, was stolen.

It was noted that a diamond-encrusted gold bracelet, which belonged to Ulviye Sultan, was valued at 6 million liras.

SUSPICION TURNED TO THE HOUSEKEEPER

Following the incident, the Istanbul Police Department launched a comprehensive investigation. As a result of examining the security cameras in the house, eyes turned to T.Ç., a live-in housekeeper working for Evliyazade. The footage revealed that T.Ç. was leaving the house with bags during her weekly days off.

JEWELRY RECOVERED

As a result of technical and physical surveillance conducted by the Theft Bureau teams, the suspect T.Ç. was tracked down in Esenyurt. While the suspect was taken into custody during the operation, 79 pieces of stolen jewelry, bags, and clothing were seized during a search of her home.

However, the investigation did not end there. It was determined that T.Ç.'s daughter, S.N.Ş., was attempting to sell the stolen jewelry through social media platforms. S.N.Ş. was also apprehended and taken into custody.

T.Ç. and her daughter S.N.Ş., who were interrogated at the Public Security Branch Directorate, were referred to the courthouse after their procedures. The housekeeper T.Ç. was arrested by the court and sent to prison. Her daughter S.N.Ş. was released under judicial control conditions.
