The Tax Inspection Board of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is deepening its tax audits targeting actors and voice artists.
In investigations conducted to identify unregistered income, significant differences were found between the income declarations and actual earnings of 150 artists.
The research conducted involved a detailed examination covering many sources, including the artists' tax declarations, bank account activities, activities on digital platforms, and advertising revenues.
It was determined that the income declarations of artists in the high-income bracket and their agencies were significantly lower than expected. During the audits, the Risk Analysis, Evaluation and Research (RADAR) System was used to scan for discrepancies between declared income and actual expenditures.
Findings regarding actors and voice artists caught by RADAR, such as collecting payments through intermediaries like relatives and managers to underreport income, and discrepancies between amounts received in bank accounts and declared income, were placed in the "risky" category.
In the first phase, the differences in the income and declarations of 150 artists and agencies were taken under review.
It was determined that one actor had omitted 100 million lira of income from records in just one year. These actors will be invited by tax inspectors to explain the discrepancies between their income and declarations.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance stated that these audits will continue following analyses related to 2024 income and corporate tax declarations. Furthermore, it was stated that taxpayers found to have major discrepancies between their tax declarations and expenditures will also be closely monitored.
