While the 'Adulterated or Misbranded Foods' list announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to be a hot topic, it was determined that a batch of Birşah brand milk contained only water.

RECALL DECISION MADE

According to the report by Sözcü newspaper, the manufacturer Danone announced that a recall decision was made for the relevant products, stating that water was inadvertently added during the production phase.

Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry launched a comprehensive investigation following allegations that there was water in Birşah brand milk.

As a result of the inspections, it was determined that at the facility where Birşah milk is produced, water was added instead of milk to one batch of milk. Following this development, a recall decision was made for 1-liter 3.1% fat UHT milk of the Birşah brand with batch number 176.L.

STATEMENT FROM DANONE: TECHNICAL MALFUNCTION

In a statement made by Danone following the incident, which caused a major stir in the public, it was stated that the situation was caused by a technical malfunction during the production phase.

The statement expressed that drinkable water is used at the start of production to maintain temperature balance in UHT milk production, and an error occurred during this process.

The following statements were included in Danone's announcement:

“A technical malfunction occurred on the production line of Birşah brand 1-liter 3.1% fat UHT drinking milk for approximately 1 minute, and drinkable water was packaged in approximately the first 100 liters of the product with batch number 176.L. These products do not pose a risk to public health and are being withdrawn from all points of sale.”
