When will the court announce the verdict in the Narin Güran case? CHP member makes announcement
CHP Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu has announced when the court will deliver its verdict in the second hearing of the Narin Güran murder case. Tanrıkulu drew attention to the deficiencies in the investigation and the negligence of the gendarmerie.
The second hearing for the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found 19 days after she went missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, is continuing at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. It was stated that the court will announce its verdict tomorrow following the defense arguments.
CHP Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu made statements to journalists while observing the hearing, stating that the court would deliver its verdict tomorrow.
Tanrıkulu said, “Defense attorneys are presenting their arguments; it will likely continue until the evening. The court will announce its verdict once it has reached a sufficient conscientious conviction.”
DOUBTS REGARDING THE MURDER PERSIST
Drawing attention to the deficiencies in the investigation into the murder, Tanrıkulu emphasized the uncertainty regarding the identities of the suspects and the motive for the crime, stating, "It is still not clear why Narin was killed or by whom. The court will deliver its verdict, but these questions remain unanswered."
Tanrıkulu said, "The Diyarbakır Bar Association and other participants believe that the gendarmerie did not fully perform its duties in this investigation. There is a prevailing view that they acted with negligence," adding that he had expressed this opinion previously. He also noted that the investigation must be conducted in accordance with the law and that the real killer must be identified as soon as possible.
Tanrıkulu also stated that the rules of a fair trial were being observed during the hearing, saying, “The defense is not being restricted, and care is being taken to present the evidence as accurately as possible.”
Stating that public expectations must be met during the trial process, Tanrıkulu said that the judicial process would continue in order to shed light on the murder.
