Will Erdoğan break his first Ramadan fast in Damascus? Claims regarding the Umayyad Mosque
It has been claimed that President Erdoğan will have his first iftar of Ramadan in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and perform the first tarawih prayer at the Umayyad Mosque. According to behind-the-scenes information shared by journalist Doğan Şentürk, the AKP leadership has also changed its decision regarding holiday greetings with certain political parties. Here are the details...
It has been suggested that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will fulfill the promise he made years ago to "pray at the Umayyad Mosque."
Speaking on Now TV, journalist Doğan Şentürk stated that, according to insider information he received from a prominent figure in the AKP, Erdoğan will break his first fast of the month of Ramadan in Damascus and perform the first Tarawih prayer at the Umayyad Mosque.
It is known that following the end of the civil war in Syria, the new administration has increased its contacts with Turkey.
Previously, MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın also performed prayers at the Umayyad Mosque. It is noted that a potential visit by Erdoğan to the region could mark the beginning of a new era in Turkey-Syria relations.
Şentürk also stated that the AKP did not invite the DEM Party, the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), and the DEVA Party to its party congress and will not include these parties in its holiday greeting program.
