Landscape architect Ece Gürel went missing in the Belgrade Forest on Sunday, March 2. Then, the tragic news arrived.

36-year-old Ece Gürel had not been heard from since she left her home in Istanbul on March 2, 2025, to go to the Belgrade Forest. Her family and friends realized she was missing and began search efforts.

During this process, the family appeared on the 'Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert' program. According to statements from Gürel's husband, Mr. Sezer, the young woman had argued with her husband. She had left the house in the morning while they were on bad terms. She hadn't even told her husband where she was going. Her loved ones and viewers had lost hope that Gürel was alive.

But the news that came at the end of 4 days brought joy to everyone.

Search and rescue teams found Gürel in a wooded area at 01:15 on the night of March 5, showing signs of being slightly injured and suffering from hypothermia. Fears did not end for Gürel, who was taken to the hospital after initial intervention. The young woman, who was reported to have suffered cardiac arrest at the hospital, lost her life despite all efforts.

Many allegations were made following Ece Gürel's death. One of these was that Gürel was receiving 'witchcraft training.' Hale Nur Özen, who provided training to Gürel—who was interested in metaphysical subjects such as astrology, tarot, and lead pouring—was also detained.

Following Ece Gürel's disappearance and death, the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for Hale Nur Ö., who lives in Bursa and was alleged to have provided 'witchcraft training' to Ece Gürel, on various charges. Hale Nur Ö. was detained on charges of 'publicly disseminating misleading information,' 'qualified fraud,' and 'violation of the Tax Procedure Law.' She was subsequently released.

ALLEGATION OF A WOMAN'S SCREAM

Her family denied the witchcraft training allegations on Müge Anlı's broadcast. They stated, 'The training might be called that, but our daughter had nothing to do with witchcraft or similar rituals.' They also said they believe something happened to the young woman in the forest. According to the father's claim, someone had moved Gürel there, as her belongings were not found with her initially but were seen later.

Mr. Harun, who participated in Müge Anlı's broadcast, said he was in the Belgrade Forest with his son on the days Ece Gürel went missing. Speaking about the evening of Monday, the day after the Sunday Gürel went missing, Mr. Harun reported that security guards heard a woman's scream.

According to Mr. Harun's account, the security guards heard a woman screaming from inside the forest. They even set out to search the forest with a group of 10 people. However, when they found nothing, they thought it was the sound of a jackal.

During the conversation, the security guard who heard the sound said he had never heard a jackal sound there before and thought it was a woman's voice. Mr. Harun emphasizes that despite these statements, the suspicion that it could have been a woman's voice was not followed up on.
