The incident occurred around 10:30 AM at the entrance of Konyaaltı Beach Park in the Muratpaşa district. An unidentified person began arguing with 5 individuals on the grounds that they had stolen his mobile phone while he was swimming. According to the allegations, the argument between the 5 people, who demanded 4,000 TL to return the phone, and the phone's owner escalated.
Upon the situation being reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center, plainclothes police teams were dispatched to the scene. The arriving teams requested backup after the 5 suspects resisted them with a scalpel and a small camping axe.
Following this, numerous uniformed and plainclothes police teams were sent to the area. The 5 individuals, who continued to resist the police, were neutralized with pepper spray and handcuffed once the backup teams arrived.
When the allegedly stolen mobile phone was not found on the 5 individuals, the police searched the area where the incident took place and among the rocks for a while, but were unable to find it. The police confiscated the axe used by the suspects, but could not find the scalpel despite their search.
On the other hand, one of the handcuffed suspects was taken to the shower area on the beach by a police officer after claiming he was affected by the pepper spray and experiencing shortness of breath. The suspect, whose face was washed with water by the police, and the others were then placed in a police vehicle and taken to the police station.
