A fire broke out in Kartal after a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of an apartment. While the fire was brought under control by firefighters, the 4-story building was evacuated.
The incident occurred on Kayakent Street in the Esentepe neighborhood of Kartal at approximately 18:30.
According to reports, a gas cylinder exploded on the first floor of a 4-story apartment building.
The explosion of the cylinder in the kitchen sparked a fire. The force of the blast shattered the windows of the home.
Nearby residents notified the fire department.
Upon receiving the report, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control and rescued trapped residents from their balconies.
Police teams evacuated the building.
An investigation into the fire has been launched.
