Gaza motion approved in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

The motion regarding Israel's decision to expand its occupation in Gaza and the genocide it is committing against the Palestinian people, which bears the signature of Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş, has been approved in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

The following statements were included in the motion signed by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş:

Israel has turned the policies of occupation, extermination, and annexation it has pursued against the Palestinian people for decades into a genocide, especially in Gaza over the last two years.

The policies of genocide, famine, and starvation pursued by Israel have cost tens of thousands of lives. It has also been stated by the UN and other international organizations that the genocidal Netanyahu government is deliberately condemning the people of Gaza to hunger and famine.

NEARLY 70 THOUSAND PEOPLE KILLED

Continuing its massacres and oppression by deciding to expand its occupation operation in Gaza, Israel has killed nearly 70 thousand people, the vast majority of whom are women and children, wounded more than 150 thousand people, and destroyed the region's civilian infrastructure in the last two years.

Palestinian women, children, youth, and the elderly have been condemned to a prison of death and hunger by the genocidal Israeli forces. Not content with these criminal acts, Netanyahu and his gang have taken their efforts to destroy Palestinians to a higher level and have reached the stage of implementing a policy of annexing all Palestinian settlements, including Gaza.

Israel has increased the violence it inflicts on Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank through occupation forces and illegal settlers; it has accelerated land occupation, illegal demolitions, and the construction of illegal settlements.

Unfortunately, apart from the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, no global institution is taking any initiative to stop the unlawful decisions and massacres of the Israeli government.

The rising voice of the humanity front in almost every corner of the earth is forcing governments that have remained silent or supported this oppression to stand with the Palestinian people in recent times.

THE CURRENT STAGE IS A GREAT SUCCESS OF HUMAN CONSCIENCE

The hopeful side of this dark picture is that some states that previously remained silent or supported Israel are now implementing decisions to recognize Palestine and boycott Israel. The current stage is a great success of human conscience.

Today, we, as the TBMM, are gathered here to convey our proposals and call for solidarity with the Palestinian people and for stopping Israel to the world's parliaments.

We hope that the world's parliaments, which will support us in raising the voice and conscience of humanity, will also join this call and that we will take action together.

As the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey;

1. We condemn in the strongest terms the occupation, extermination, and annexation practices to which the Palestinian people have been subjected by Israel for decades.

2. We emphasize that the massacres against the Palestinian people and, finally, the use of famine as a weapon of extermination in Gaza constitute the crime of genocide.

3. We invite the international community to make greater efforts to force Israel to accept a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, withdraw its armed forces from the region, and ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

4. We condemn the illegal settlement activities in Jerusalem and the West Bank and the violence against the Palestinian people.

5. We call for ensuring that those who commit crimes of genocide and colonialism on Palestinian lands are held accountable before courts.

6. We record that the realization of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State with geographical integrity, based on the 1967 borders, is the only way to ensure a just and lasting peace.

7. We emphasize that the attacks and provocations carried out by the Zionist regime against the holy sites of Muslims, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, must be stopped.

8. We call for the suspension of the Israeli government's membership in the UN and international organizations until it abandons its genocidal policies.

9. We invite all national parliaments to;

- Take urgent action to end all military and commercial relations with Israel and to break the embargo applied against the Palestinian people;

- Reject and condemn the genocide and colonial policies of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories;

- Defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, protect the perspective of a two-state solution, and call on countries that do not recognize the State of Palestine to recognize Palestine;

- Join the “Group of Parliaments Supporting Palestine” established under the leadership of the TBMM in Istanbul on April 18, 2025.

In this context, I submit to the approval of the General Assembly the voting and adoption of this declaration and the publication of the decision taken in the Official Gazette.
