Isparta Gelendost Mayor Mustafa Özmen announced that he has left the IYI Party. Özmen stated, "In making this decision, I have strived to take the most correct step to ensure the unity our country needs most today and to provide the services our district deserves. When the homeland is at stake, political preferences may differ, but my love for our people and my desire to serve will only grow stronger."
"During this process, in which I have had the honor of serving Gelendost, I have worked day and night to be worthy of your trust. Throughout my term, I have endeavored to do my best to solve our district's problems and meet the needs of our people. However, today, I would like to share an important decision regarding the future of Gelendost with you, my dear fellow citizens. In the name of an integrative and comprehensive unity in our district, I have decided to resign from the IYI Party, of which I am a member. In making this decision, I have taken care to do what is right to contribute to the unity our country needs today and to bring our district the services it deserves. When the homeland is at stake, political preferences may differ, but my love for our people and my passion for service will grow even stronger. On this occasion, I would like to thank all the organization members I have worked with until today and all the people of Gelendost who have supported me. I have full faith that we will carry our Gelendost to better tomorrows in unity and solidarity."
ANOTHER MAYOR HAD ALSO RESIGNED
Yemliha Göktaş, who was elected mayor of the Çağlayancerit district of Kahramanmaraş in the March 31 local elections, announced today that he has left the IYI Party. In his written statement, Göktaş stated the following:
"Today, I would like to share an important decision regarding the future of our Çağlayancerit with my dear fellow citizens. In order to display a more inclusive and unifying approach in our district, I have decided to leave the IYI Party, of which I am a member. I believe that instead of political divisions and polarization, the services and investments that will shape the future of our district should be discussed. I am of the opinion that an independent and unifying political understanding will be more beneficial to our people. This decision of ours has been carefully evaluated in line with the views of our people; I thank our fellow citizens for the support shown to us and hope that this decision will be auspicious for our district."
