Gendarmerie officer falls ill at base area in Şırnak and dies
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that Gendarmerie Senior Sergeant Muhammet Kalaz, who was serving at a base area in Şırnak, passed away at the hospital where he was taken after falling ill during a search and sweep operation.
Minister Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account,
"Gendarmerie Senior Sergeant Muhammet Kalaz, who was serving at a base area in the province of Şırnak, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken after falling ill during a search and sweep operation, and has attained martyrdom.
I wish God's mercy upon our heroic gendarmerie officer, and offer my condolences to his grieving family, our Gendarmerie Organization, and our nation" he said.
