Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has resigned!

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced his resignation from office. Garibashvili stated that he made the decision to resign due to internal rotation within the country. The Prime Minister expressed that he had served the country throughout his tenure and was proud of the results achieved.

He announced that he had received an offer for the chairmanship from the political council of the Georgian Dream Party and that this matter would be addressed at the party congress to be held on February 1.

Parliamentary elections in Georgia are scheduled to take place this autumn.

Garibashvili had previously resigned from the position of prime minister in 2015. Following Irakli Garibashvili's resignation, claims have emerged that the candidate for the new prime minister will be Georgian Dream Party Chairman and Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Irakli Kobakhidze.

It is known that Kobakhidze served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia between 2016 and 2019. According to the Constitution of Georgia, the ruling party is required to present the new prime ministerial candidate to the President within one week.
