In 2023, Germany had suspended the appeal process regarding visa rejections from China, Morocco, and Turkey for one year. Having tightened controls at its borders in recent months to control irregular migration and increase security, Germany has now suspended the appeal process for visa rejections for another year. According to a statement from the German Federal Foreign Office, applications will be automatically suspended until June 30, 2025.

In the statement made by the German Federal Foreign Office, it was noted that 'with the lifting of travel restrictions in the world after the pandemic, visa sections have come under a very serious application burden,' and this situation has caused longer waiting times for visa appointments in some places.

While it was stated that many people wait for months to get a visa application appointment, it was conveyed that for this reason, in order to increase the capacity of the team that can evaluate visa applications, it was decided to assign the team that would review appeals against application rejections to different areas.

It was stated that the appeal processes were suspended in order to ensure that visa applications are concluded quickly.
