During yesterday's session of the Giresun Municipal Council, it was learned that Alptuğ Kaan Kara, who served as a council member and deputy mayor within the YENİ Party, has resigned from his party.
Following his resignation, Kara was seen taking his place among the independent council members during the council session.
It was stated that while Kara has ended his party membership, he will continue to serve as deputy mayor.
Number of independent members rises to 6
Kara's resignation has also shifted the political balance in the Giresun Municipal Council.
With the addition of Kara to the 5 members who had previously left the CHP to become independent, the number of independent council members has risen to 6. The number of YENİ Party members in the council has fallen to 15.
It is assessed that the increase in the number of independent members could be influential in upcoming votes and committee work in the Giresun Municipal Council.
