Google corrects 'Atatürk' blunder: 'Founder of the Republic of Türkiye...'

Google had faced intense criticism recently following the appearance of the phrase "Former President of Turkey" when searching for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. 

Following the criticism, citizens organized a petition campaign.

Citizens submitted their objections to Google using the "Incorrect content. Feedback" button. 

After the backlash, Google removed the phrase "Former President of Turkey" for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and added the phrase "Founder of the Republic of Türkiye".

"LOOK AT THE MILLIONS RUNNING TO ANITKABİR..."

12punto columnist and journalist Mustafa Mutlu drew attention to the issue at Google in his May 20 column and said the following:

"A Turkish and Atatürk-hating scoundrel working at Google called him 'Former President of Turkey'…

Forget the inadequacy of the definition; don't get hung up on that…

The real goal is hidden in the phrase 'Former Turkey'!

This vile copywriter thinks they can say, 'Atatürk's Turkey is old, now there is a new and different Republic!'

I have two suggestions for this ignorant rogue:

Look at the millions who run to Anıtkabir and Dolmabahçe Palace on every national holiday; that's one…

Two; look at the roads, squares, homes, bridges, workplaces, and even hospitals every November 10th at 9:05 AM.

Look and see how more than 100 million people around the world stand in silence and shed tears for a 'president' who died 85 years ago!

Do not close your eyes to the love people have for Atatürk, for whom they wouldn't even cry for their own mothers or fathers…

If Google's anti-Turkish copywriter, who committed this treachery and tried to poison our holiday yesterday, isn't looking at these, let them look at the UNESCO resolution text that I found and pulled from their own pages!

If you still haven't learned who our Ata (Father) is, we will teach you in such a way… You will be stunned!

With a tiny boycott campaign, we won't even leave a trace of you in this country!

If you haven't apologized by this hour, understand the gravity of the mistake you've made and take action!
