Google goes down, first statement arrives from the Ministry

Access to Google services has stopped worldwide. The outage also affected platforms such as YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Drive, and Gemini. Deputy Minister Ömer Fatih Sayan announced that a technical report has been requested from Google and that the process is being closely monitored.

Google goes down, first statement arrives from the Ministry

Millions of users were unable to access the world's most used search engine, Google, and its associated services. Platforms such as YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Meet, and Google's artificial intelligence bot Gemini were also affected by the outage.

No official statement has been made by Google yet.

STATEMENT FROM DEPUTY MINISTER SAYAN

Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan made a statement regarding the issue on his social media account. Stating that the National Cyber Incident Response Center has requested a technical report from Google regarding the cause of the outage, Sayan used the following expressions:

“There is an outage in Google, Android, and connected services covering Turkey and the European region. We are following the process closely. Such outages once again reveal the importance of domestic and national software. We will further increase our 5G localization rate, which is currently at 60%.”

ISSUES ARE BEING EXPERIENCED IN MANY COUNTRIES IN EUROPE

According to Downdetector data, access issues to Google services were experienced not only in Turkey but also in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia.
