Google lays off 100 employees at YouTube

Google has decided to lay off 100 employees at its YouTube platform.

According to a report by The New York Times, the layoffs affected a group of employees from YouTube's operations and creator management teams. The report indicates that teams providing support to YouTube creators were particularly impacted.

These layoffs took place as part of a broader restructuring process within Google's organization. A Google spokesperson speaking to The Hill stated that hundreds of employees working on Google Assistant and hundreds of others in Google's knowledge and information product teams were laid off last week. However, the spokesperson declined to provide an exact figure.

The same spokesperson stated in an announcement made last week that several hundred more employees from Google's digital services and product areas were laid off, and that several hundred positions in the central engineering team would also be eliminated.
