Governor's Office announces: Restrictions continue in Ankara

Protests that began following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu have intensified further with his arrest. In Ankara, protests at universities, primarily METU (ODTÜ), continue under a blockade implemented by the Governor's Office, while heavy police intervention against these protests also persists.

The EGO General Directorate announced the 'service suspensions' implemented in line with the instructions of the Ankara Governor's Office as follows:

"In accordance with the decision taken by the Ankara Governor's Office, passenger boarding and alighting will be suspended at Kızılay Metro, Kızılay Ankaray, METU Metro, and Söğütözü Metro stations as of 19:00 on 24.03.2025; buses using the stops in front of Middle East Technical University (METU) will not allow passengers to board or alight as of 19:00; and bus ring services within the METU campus will be suspended as of 19:00"
