Governor's Office 'tiny house' decision: No permits will be granted

It has been announced that "tiny houses" and illegal structures will not be permitted in Edirne in order to protect agricultural lands.

Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer conducted inspections in the Keşan and Enez regions.

Speaking to reporters after his inspections, Sezer said that they have sent a circular to all village heads (muhtars) in the region and have clearly stated that tiny houses or illegal structures will not be allowed.

Stating that tiny house structures are increasing, Sezer noted the following:

"Every time I come here, they are popping up like mushrooms. The person calls this a 'trailer' under the name of a 'tiny house' and says 'it has a license plate,' but you look and they place the vehicle there, set up the infrastructure, and even build a pool in front of it. We removed 40 of them this week. We will not allow these from now on. Because what they are doing is not legal. Our agricultural lands here are very valuable; this is a tourism region.

We must not allow this place to be developed in an unhealthy manner. Let us leave a beautiful Saros Bay, a beautiful Keşan, and a beautiful Enez for future generations, for your children. Let them remember us with prayers. If we allow everyone now, we will not be able to handle the consequences. We have legal grounds for this as well."
