Greece decides to extradite Ali Yeşildağ
Greece's highest administrative court has ruled that Ali Yeşildağ, known for his corruption allegations against President Erdoğan and his family, can be extradited to Turkey.
Greece has decided to extradite businessman Ali Yeşildağ, who made headlines with his allegations against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to Turkey.
Yeşildağ was arrested in Greece last year after crossing the Turkey-Greece border illegally. Arguing that his life would be in danger in Turkey due to his statements about Erdoğan, Yeşildağ had been asking the Greek judiciary not to extradite him to Turkey.
Interpol had issued an arrest warrant for Yeşildağ due to a crime he committed in 1986.
According to sources speaking to Reuters, the Greek Council of State has decided to extradite Yeşildağ to Turkey.
Earlier this year, a Greek court had also ruled in favor of extraditing Yeşildağ, who had applied for asylum in the country, to Turkey, but the European Court of Human Rights had requested that the decision be postponed until August 23.
