Greek driver who hit injured motorcyclist at customs gate arrested

In an incident that occurred two weeks ago in the buffer zone between the İpsala Customs Gate and the Greek Customs Gate, a Greek driver named T.L. intentionally struck a 71-year-old Turkish motorcyclist. Following the collision, the driver entered the customs area from the wrong direction, crashing into trucks and barriers, causing a major accident.

After exiting his vehicle, T.L. brandished a cleaver and walked toward police officers, displaying aggressive behavior. Police fired warning shots into the air to bring the situation under control. However, T.L. did not comply with the order to "stop"; consequently, one of the police officers shot the suspect in the right leg to neutralize him. T.L., who was taken into custody, received treatment at Keşan State Hospital.

Following his treatment, T.L. was referred to the Keşan Courthouse, where he was arrested by the presiding judge on charges of "attempted intentional homicide." The investigation into the details of the incident is ongoing.
