Green light from Germany to Turkey: The obstacle is being removed

A technical delegation from the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany, which form the Eurofighter consortium, has arrived in Turkey and begun discussions. The negotiations are expected to last 3 weeks. In the first phase, Turkey will acquire 24 Eurofighter fighter jets as soon as possible.

During the negotiations, which are planned to last approximately 3 weeks, many technical details were discussed, primarily the stages of the fighter jet procurement process, how personnel training will be conducted, and how maintenance programs will be implemented.

FIGHTER JETS TO BE ACQUIRED

If Germany gives final approval for the sale following the technical negotiations, Turkey will acquire 24 Eurofighter fighter jets in the first phase as soon as possible. In the later stages of the process, this number will be completed to 40.

With the procurement of Eurofighter fighter jets, aircraft equipped with AESA radar will enter the Turkish Air Force inventory for the first time. Experts emphasize that the Eurofighter will be the most suitable solution during the period leading up to the entry of the national fighter jet KAAN and F-16 Block 70 fighter jets into the inventory.

WORK IS UNDERWAY FOR 40 AIRCRAFT

Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler stated in a recent announcement, "Turkey is continuing efforts to procure 40 Eurofighters by negotiating with the UK and Spain. They are trying to persuade Germany."

Signs had begun to emerge in recent days that Germany, which had long blocked the sale of weapons and defense equipment to Turkey, was softening its stance.
