Gun campaign with grant options for judges and prosecutors: Glock is among them...

With a regulation introduced in 2008, judges and prosecutors are allowed to acquire two guns throughout their tenure, one domestic and one imported.

Guns purchased by members of the judiciary are exempt from funds, taxes, duties, fees, and storage charges belonging to official institutions. In other words, judges and prosecutors can own guns at a significantly lower price.

GLOCK IS ALSO ON THE LIST

According to the report by Furkan Karabay from 10haber, the Ministry of Justice Department of Support Services recently announced an imported gun purchase campaign for judges and prosecutors. With the campaign launched by the Ministry of Justice, members of the judiciary will be able to purchase imported guns at a price much lower than their market value. The campaign launched for judges and prosecutors will continue until September 30.

The Ministry of Justice's letter dated August 27 included details of a similar campaign conducted in 2012. The letter stated that the campaign was carried out to increase the security of judges and prosecutors and that the imported guns would be supplied by the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE).

It was stated that the purchase of the guns must be made in Euros or Dollars and that the payment must be deposited into the Ministry of Justice's bank account. It was observed that the Glock brand pistol, known as an assassination weapon, is also included in MKE's imported gun list. Glock pistols are known worldwide for being used by police, security forces, and celebrities, as well as criminals.

GRANT AND DONATION DETAIL

The import agreement for the Glock brand weapon is held by MKE. On MKE's website, the price of the Glock brand weapon is 3,690 dollars. With the new campaign, judges and prosecutors will be able to purchase this weapon for 637 dollars. This means a discount of approximately 3,000 dollars (102,000 TL) is in question.

Some judges and prosecutors can sell the guns they bought 3,000 dollars cheaper to third parties through "grant" or "donation" methods. Moreover, since some members of the judiciary cannot apply for more than one imported gun, they also make purchases by telling judges and prosecutors who do not buy guns, "you buy it and grant it to me."

In Turkey, where the sale of second-hand guns is prohibited, trade is conducted through grant and donation methods. In this transaction carried out at notaries, it is written that the transfer of the gun is done "free of charge." However, after the gun is transferred through the grant and donation method, sales are realized with payments made by hand.
