Gürsel Tekin responds to trustee allegations: 'I don't give it a one-in-a-million chance'

Pro-government figure Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı claimed that Gürsel Tekin, who served for many years as deputy chairman, secretary-general, and member of parliament in the CHP before resigning from his party in February 2024, could be appointed as a trustee to the CHP. 

Speaking to 12punto regarding the claim put forward by Kütahyalı, Tekin said, "No Republican People's Party member would accept this. More accurately, it is impossible for a trustee to be appointed to a political party that founded the state." 

"The CHP Headquarters and the CHP Chairman have done what needed to be done. The party has made a decision to hold a party congress. It is out of the question for a trustee to be appointed to a party that is heading to a congress," said Gürsel Tekin, continuing his remarks: 

"Forget about the names here. Such a thing cannot happen anyway. Ultimately, there is an investigation regarding the party. In accordance with what this requires, the CHP Headquarters has made a decision to hold a party congress. In such a process, I do not give even a one-in-a-million chance of a trustee being appointed to the party. 

I cannot even accept the idea of a trustee being appointed to a political party that founded the country, is the parent of all political parties, and was established on the battlefields."

'I AM HEADING TO ÇAĞLAYAN COURTHOUSE'

Stating that he is heading to the Çağlayan Courthouse to support Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Tekin said, "Tomorrow, I will go to the ballot box and cast my vote."
