Hablemitoğlu was the one who 'fired the first shot': The writer who warned against the FETÖ threat years ago and was assassinated

Historian and Writer Necip Hablemitoğlu was a guest on Mehmet Ali Birand's "32. Gün" program.

Hablemitoğlu had explained the unknown facts about the Fethullah Gülen organization one by one. It was not easy at all to explain the information that the entire media published in full detail after the July 15 coup attempt back then. Because the AKP government was supporting the Fethullahist Terror Organization's (FETÖ) Turkish schools project. 

What did Hablemitoğlu explain?

In his research, Hablemitoğlu revealed the terrorist organization's structure even back then, with Fethullah Gülen at the very top as the "imam of the universe," and "continent imams" and "organization imams" beneath him.

Hablemitoğlu began writing a book titled "Köstebek" (The Mole) to disclose his research to the public. In his book, he planned to write that FETÖ was not actually a service and education movement, but a terrorist organization aiming to establish a parallel structure to the state by infiltrating strategic state institutions; however, Hablemitoğlu fell victim to a murder after being subjected to an armed attack in front of his home on December 18, 2002, before the book could be published.

Let's come to the present day...

FETÖ, which grew during the AKP era, fell out with the government again during the AKP era. 

The process, which began with the then-MIT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan being summoned to testify as a suspect in 2012, continued with the December 17-25 investigation targeting names close to President Tayyip Erdoğan. And while the fight between the AKP and FETÖ was at its peak, FETÖ's coup attempt on July 15, 2016, was suppressed. 

From July 15, which the AKP government accepts as a "milestone," until the term of former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, 332 thousand 884 people were taken into custody. During the term of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, 2 thousand 839 operations were carried out against FETÖ, and 4 thousand 482 suspects were taken into custody. 994 of them were arrested. 

MESSAGE FROM ŞENGÜL HABLEMİTOĞLU

On the 8th anniversary of FETÖ's July 15 coup attempt, Necip Hablemitoğlu's wife, Şengül Hablemitoğlu, made an important statement. 

Şengül Hablemitoğlu summarized her husband's struggle against FETÖ on social media as follows: 

“He says in 2002: 'It is not enough to purge those who are primarily responsible for Turkey's security and who have ties to the Fethullahist structure; all officials who do not speak out, do not react, and do not fight against this phenomenon for any reason whatsoever, in short, who do not fulfill the requirements of their primary duties, must also be purged; in this context, the Police Department must be restructured.' In the 90s, while you were kissing hands and feet, defending them as an unprecedented NGO, scrambling to attend their olympiads and trips, staffing the state, and racing to get into the photo, he was also saying, 'The Gülen Community is a terrorist organization.' That is why what you experienced is what you deserve. However, you will surely pay the price for what you have made others experience one day... 

Do not forget this person, who was as brilliant as his name, his heart, his conscience, and his mind, Necip Hablemitoğlu. We do not know what he meant to others. For us, he was a soul, he was sincere. He was a human... Do not forget!”
