Had 21 criminal records: Ruling on suspect who insulted Atatürk on social media
The suspect, who was detained for insulting Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and martyrs, as well as degrading religious values in a video shared on social media, has been arrested.
B.A., who insulted Atatürk and religious values on social media, was apprehended in Beyoğlu on December 28 as a result of the efforts of the Istanbul Police Department's Preventive Services Branch teams.
Following the completion of the procedures at the police station, the suspect A.B. was arrested by the on-duty magistrate judge at the courthouse to which he was referred.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As a result of the work initiated by police teams on December 27, A.B., who filmed the video and was found to have 21 criminal records and was also being sought as a missing person, was apprehended in Beyoğlu.
The suspect, who was determined to have committed the crimes of "insulting Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk," "insulting the memory of a person," "insulting martyrs," "degrading religious values," and "degrading and insulting the values of Turkish society" in the video, was taken to the Istanbul Police Department.
