Denizli Bar Association President Ufuk Kök, who was detained and subsequently released during a drug investigation conducted by narcotics teams affiliated with the Denizli Provincial Gendarmerie Command last week, has resigned from his post.
As part of the investigation, 12 lawyers, including Kök, were detained, and searches were conducted at the suspects' homes and workplaces, as well as at the Denizli Bar Association Service Building.
"MY BELIEF THAT THE TRUTH WILL EMERGE IS FULL"
In a statement published on his social media account, Ufuk Kök stated that he believes he will be cleared at the end of the judicial process regarding the allegations against him.
Emphasizing his trust in the principle of the rule of law, Kök stated, "As I have done until today, I will continue to seek my rights within the boundaries drawn by the law from now on, and I will maintain my confidence that justice will be served at all stages of the process."
EXPLAINED THE REASON FOR RESIGNATION
Stating that his decision to leave his post stems from a sense of institutional responsibility rather than personal reasons, Kök expressed that the office of the Bar President represents the independence of the defense and professional honor.
In his statement, Kök included the words, "My heart could not accept this office being further damaged due to the ongoing process, the work of the Denizli Bar Association being overshadowed, and my colleagues being left within these debates."
"THIS IS NOT A GIVING UP"
Stating that his resignation is not a withdrawal but a result of the respect he holds for the values he represents, Kök thanked the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, his colleagues, and his family for their support during his tenure.
