Hafize Gaye Erkan responds to allegations: Baseless reports are absolutely unacceptable

Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) employee Büşra Bozkurt filed a complaint with CİMER alleging that she was dismissed by Erol Erkan, the father of Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan. The petition also alleged that Erol Erkan was provided with an office, security detail, and an official vehicle at the bank. It was claimed that Erol Erkan was brought into an unofficial administrative position at the bank and was authorized in matters such as hiring, firing, and reassigning personnel.

"HE TOLD ME I WOULD NOW SERVE HIM"

According to a report by Cem Yıldırım from Sözcü, Bozkurt, who stated that she had worked as a protocol officer on the Central Bank's executive floor for 4 years, said in her petition to CİMER: "When our Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan and her mother Gamze Hanım were entering the protocol area, Erol Bey passed by me and said, 'Can you stop by for a moment?' I stopped by, and he said, 'I want reliable and permanent people entering and exiting the Governor's office. You are an employee we trust.' Then he called Human Resources and said that I would now serve them," she stated.

"I RECEIVED THE RESPONSE THAT 'THE ORDER CAME FROM THE FATHER'"

The petition, which included the statement, "I told Erol Bey, 'I have a 7-year-old child who goes to school. I have to pick him up from school every day. I am a married woman, and working until these hours might be difficult for me,'" continued: "Erol Bey got angry and said in a loud voice, 'I view an employee who says this as someone who doesn't want to work. We came all the way from America for you. Our entire order has been disrupted. I will not let you sit in the place where you work,' he threatened. Following the incident, my dismissal was ordered. When I spoke to our support services manager, I received the response, 'The order came from the father. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.' I respectfully request my reinstatement to my position."

It was alleged that Erol Erkan went to the bank with an official vehicle and conducted inspections even when Governor Erkan was in the USA.

"A PRIVATE OFFICE WAS ALLOCATED"

In her petition, Büşra Bozkurt used the following expressions regarding the father Erol Erkan: "The thing I find strange is that an office was allocated to him and that he can rule over us in this way. He even gives orders to general managers. He can say, 'If we don't make them suffer, we won't be able to find employees.'"

Bozkurt, who claimed that Erol Erkan subjected her to mobbing and took advantage of all the bank's facilities, wrote that Erol Erkan came to the bank with an official vehicle and conducted inspections even when Governor Erkan was in the USA.

The petition also argued that Erol Erkan used the deputy governor's office, helped care for Governor Erkan's baby in this office with a private nanny, but also caused many personnel to be displaced and lose their jobs with his instructions.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM ERKAN

Central Bank Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan made a statement regarding the allegations.

Stating that the allegation in question is baseless, Erkan said, "I will exercise my necessary legal rights against those responsible."

Erkan made the following statements:

"In recent days, reports that are confidence-eroding, malicious, and inconsistent with the facts have been circulated, targeting myself and my family, and directed at our Bank.

I would like to share with the public, in particular, my astonishment and sadness in the face of these baseless allegations, which I learned about during the extremely productive meetings we held with important names in the economy and business world in the United States of America.

The baseless reports accusing me and our Bank are of a nature that can never be accepted. I will exercise my necessary legal rights against those responsible."
