'Hakan Ateş' crisis at the courthouse: The order was cancelled!
New developments emerge every day in the high-interest fund case known publicly as the "Fatih Terim Fund." Most recently, it was alleged that an attempt was made to bring Hakan Ateş to the courthouse under police escort, which triggered a crisis at the courthouse.
A new detail has emerged in the high-interest fund case known publicly as the "Fatih Terim Fund."
Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz wrote that in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Terrorism and Organized Crimes, where numerous football players and business people were allegedly "defrauded with promises of high profits," a request by Prosecutor A.K.K. to have Denizbank General Manager Hakan Ateş and his Deputy Mehmet Aydoğdu brought in for questioning under police escort—following an application made to the Fraud Bureau—caused a major crisis at the courthouse.
IT CAUSED A CRISIS AT THE COURTHOUSE
Saymaz detailed the event in his column as follows:
“The Seçil Erzan fraud was uncovered on April 7. Denizbank filed a criminal complaint on the same day. While the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Terrorism and Organized Crimes was conducting the investigation… Footballer Selçuk İnan, Emre Çolak's brother Emrah, and interpreter Musa Mert Çetin applied to the Fraud Bureau on April 19 and gave their statements. Based on handwritten notes presented as receipts, Prosecutor A.K.K. wrote a letter to the Police Department on April 21 requesting that Denizbank General Manager Hakan Ateş and his Deputy Mehmet Aydoğdu be brought to the prosecutor's office under police escort to have their statements taken regarding fraud and embezzlement. This letter caused a major crisis at the courthouse.
THE ORDER WAS CANCELLED
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, thinking that a rogue investigation had been opened, wanted to reach Prosecutor A.K.K. However, it was understood that A.K.K. had written the letter that day and then gone on leave. The file was immediately merged with the investigation at the Bureau of Terrorism and Organized Crimes. The order was cancelled. It was decided that there were no grounds for prosecution against Ateş and Aydoğdu.”
