Hakan Fidan, İbrahim Kalın, and Yaşar Güler in Damascus

Immediately following the agreement signed between the new Syrian administration led by Ahmed Shara and the SDF, the three highest-ranking figures of Turkey's security diplomacy have traveled to Damascus together.

The tripartite delegation, consisting of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın, will meet with Ahmed Shara in Damascus.

The Ministry of National Defense made the following assessment today regarding the agreement reached with the SDF:

“We will observe how the reached agreement is implemented and its reflections on the ground. We will closely follow its positive or negative results and clear outcomes. As Turkey, our determination in the fight against terrorism continues; there is no change in our expectations regarding the cessation of terrorist activities in Syria, the laying down of arms by terrorists, and the removal of foreign terrorists from Syria, nor in our determination to ensure Syria's territorial and political integrity.”

Ministry of National Defense sources had also announced that Turkey's military attaché would begin their duties today. The statement said, "Our military attaché, who has begun their duties in Syria, will be received by the Syrian Minister of Defense today. As we have stated to you before, a military delegation from our Ministry will visit Syria in the coming days.”
