Halil Falyalı's accountant murdered: Alleged assassination of a controversial figure in the TRNC

It has been claimed that Cemil Önal, who was allegedly the accountant for Halil Falyalı, lost his life in an armed attack in the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, it has been claimed that Cemil Önal, who was allegedly the accountant for Halil Falyalı—who was killed in an armed attack in the TRNC in 2022—lost his life in an armed attack.

It was alleged that an armed attack was carried out against Önal on the terrace of a hotel located in the city of The Hague, where many Turkish people reside.

Confirming the armed attack at the hotel, the police stated that the attack took place around 17:45 local time and that a wide-ranging investigation into the attack has been launched. The police, who did not share information regarding the identity of the deceased, called on eyewitnesses to provide information to the police.

Önal was known as one of the key figures managing Halil Falyalı's financial affairs. After the Falyalı murder, Önal began to be sought as a suspect, but it was determined that he had fled abroad. Captured in the Netherlands in December 2023, Önal was not extradited to Turkey and began to be tried in the Netherlands. Önal had been released after providing a 120-page statement to Dutch and US intelligence.
