Cemil Önal, who served as Halil Falyalı's finance manager for eight years and stated that he "built the Falyalı Empire," has been released from prison in the Netherlands, where he had been held for 16 months. The Dutch court decided to end Önal's detention and release him on the grounds that there was no suspicion of flight risk.
Önal, who was taken into custody by the decision of the Interpol Department and had been held in prison for a long time, made significant statements to Ayşemden Akın from the Bugün Kıbrıs newspaper after his release. Önal stated that he is ready to expose the money laundering, virtual betting, and bribery relations occurring in Cyprus, alleging that politicians and public officials are also involved in this system.
"I KNOW A LOT, THAT IS WHY THEY GAVE MY NAME"
Emphasizing that he had no connection to the murder of Halil Falyalı, Cemil Önal said, "I had no reason to kill him; I even attended his funeral. However, someone gave my name and issued a bulletin against me. The reason for this is that I know a lot."
In his previous statements to journalists, Önal had alleged that bribes were paid to politicians, members of the judiciary, and law enforcement officers to close the virtual betting and money laundering files opened against Halil Falyalı in Turkey.
