Handan Sonel, wife of former Governor Tuncay Sonel, arrested in Gülistan Doku investigation

In the investigation into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku, a second-year student in the Child Development Department at Munzur University who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020, 12 of the 15 suspects detained were previously arrested, while judicial control measures were imposed on 3 others.

15 people were detained in the second wave of the investigation conducted by the Tunceli and Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices. Two more people were detained in an operation carried out yesterday morning, bringing the total number of detainees to 17.

Security guard F.Ö. was arrested on charges of "aiding and abetting intentional homicide and destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence," while O.Y., who works in the excavation business, was released under judicial control conditions.

Handan Sonel, wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, security guard Yılmaz Arslan, and Mehmet Aca, owner of the ACA IT company, were referred to the courthouse today under heavy security measures after their procedures at the gendarmerie were completed. Mehmet Aca was arrested in the evening on charges of "unlawfully accessing or remaining in an information system" and "destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence." Handan Sonel, wife of the former governor Tuncay Sonel, was arrested for "destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence" after her interrogation at the courthouse concluded. The number of people arrested in the investigation has risen to 15.
