As part of an ongoing tender investigation into the Beykoz Municipality, 18 people, including Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, have been referred to court with a request for their arrest.

HAS AN ARREST REQUEST BEEN ISSUED?

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the police processing of a total of 22 suspects has been completed. Following health checks, the suspects were transferred to the Beykoz Courthouse. It was reported that after Mayor Köseler's statement was taken by the prosecutor's office, he was sent to court with a request for his arrest.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On February 27, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Financial Crimes Branch detained 20 suspects, including Köseler. As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at the Beykoz Municipal building in the morning, and certain documents were seized. The collected documents were taken to the police station as evidence.

With the detention of one more person in recent days, the number of suspects in the investigation rose to 22. While 18 of those in custody were referred to court with a request for arrest, no statement has yet been made regarding the status of the other suspects.

WHO IS ALAATTİN KÖSELER?

Born in 1960 in the Paşabahçe neighborhood of Beykoz, Alaattin Köseler is a member of a family that has lived in Beykoz for three generations. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education in Beykoz, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University in 1983. He began his architectural career as a project manager and site supervisor at various construction firms before establishing his own office.

Köseler, who played basketball for 12 years at the Beykoz Sports Club and served as its president, completed his military service in Mamak, Ankara. He began his master's degree in the Interior Architecture Department at Mimar Sinan University and became a member of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB).

Köseler began his political career as the Mayor of Beykoz in 1999 and held this position until 2004. During his term, he worked on various projects such as land title distribution, the construction of an animal shelter, the building of a municipal service facility, and combating unemployment. He was re-elected as the Mayor of Beykoz from the CHP in the 2024 local elections.
